Sorayama iPhone video
KAWS/ Hajime Sorayama "NO FUTURE COMPANION"
Set to release this Saturday at OriginalFake in Tokyo. This is a toy I have been working on for the past three years with Medicom Toy. Knowing Sorayama's level of perfection we took our time to get it right. Thanks to COMPLEX who provided us with these amazing photo's and will also feature the figure in a second shoot in it's upcoming August issue that hits stands 8/1/09...

MATT JONES @ COLETTE
My long lost friend Matt Jones has an exhibition at Colette starting June 25th.
LA, OJAI, ROSSON CROW
I took a mini vacation a few weeks ago to California. The first day I arrived I went to visit the studio of Rosson Crow who made me this great painting that included some of the art and objects I had in my house combined with a 70's collectors apartment.
![]()
Later that night we went to a group exhibition I had a sculpture in called:
First Look: An Exhibition of Emerging Artists From Los Angeles Galleries
Presented by House of Campari
Curated by Simon Watson and Craig Hensala of Scenic
Then took off to Ojai for a few days of relaxing.

KENNY SCHARF / BROOKLYN STUDIO
Being on this plane reminded me of some photos I had on my phone.
A month or two ago I went over to Kenny Scharf's studio with my friend Erik Parker and we had no idea what we were in for. On the floor below his studio he had created this insane space thats like walking into one of his sculptures. Here are a few images:

This is a short video from behind the scenes of the shoot this past weekend.
Clipse X Kanye - Kinda Like A Big Deal Behind The Scenes from Malice of the Clipse on Vimeo.
Saturday in Brooklyn
Pusha T came by the studio to see what I'm up to and talk about his upcoming album " Till the Casket Drops". He's in brooklyn shooting the video for "I'm kinda like a big deal" with Clipse and Kanye. The video shots were looking good when I left and the album is going to be insane. It's great seeing all the pieces of this album come together.
Kanye, Pusha T, Malice checking over some of the days work.
I wish I could show you more images of the video but I can't...

I got back from Tokyo last week.![]()
The first night I arrived Keiichi made the super dinner at his house with Marni and baby Milo sleeping in the background.
The past two trips Keiichi has taken me to FUKU SUSHI. It's always fun and the food is amazing.
I took a day trip with Kei to visit Tomoo Gokita's studio.
Then I stopped by Taka Ishii Gallery to check out some more of his work.
I went by the Undercover office to see what Jonio was up to, we have a fun project we are going to release later this summer.
On my last day I did a shoot with Leslie Kee. Last time I worked with him was around 2004. One of the nicest people I met in years, glad to see him again.
I removed my last post because I was dissapointed
I would even get involved in that lameness...................
Lee Quinones @ Galleria il Trifoglio Nero
I was happy to see Lee is having a show in Italy that opens this coming Saturday 4-18-09.

KEIICHI TANAAMI @ NANZUKA UNDERGROUND
Keiichi Tanaami has an exhibition of new paintings and sculpture at Nanzuka Underground in Shibuya. I have been a fan of his work for several years and more recently have become a friend. He has been doing amazing graphic work for over forty years and continues to produce work with the same energy and output as when he first started.
This photo is from the last time I visited his studio, it was full of artwork from floor to ceiling.
If you can't make it to Tokyo to see the exhibit, there are several books of his work available. You might have to do a bit a searching online but it's worth the effort.
This is one of his older sculpture works that he gave me during my last visit. Thank you!

Thanks for the photo Kei!
Build and Destroy
I met with Masamichi Katayama and Isobe from Wonderwall this past week. They were in town to talk about a new project we are working on.
We also took a walk over to Erik Parker's studio to check out the lastest batch of paintings he's working on for his upcoming exhibition at Paul Kasmin in New York.
glad to see this being put to use!
The weekend ended with a lesson in destruction.
WARM REGARDS BAR
Hajime Sorayama
I was going to do a post on my recent Tokyo trip but I decided instead to do a post on Hajime Sorayama (Tokyo post will come later.) When I go to Tokyo I always visit Sorayama's studio to see what he's working on but also to discuss a project we started working on a few years ago. This past month he visited NY for the first time (ever). Here are some photos from NY and Tokyo taken in the past few weeks.

CBS NEWS STUDIO VISIT
Today Serena Altschul of CBS News came by the studio to film for a piece they are putting together on my work. It forced me to take a break from painting and it wound up being a fun day.
THE NY ART BOOK FAIR
Yesterday I stopped by the NY Art Book Fair. If you're in NY it's worth the visit. It's basically a gathering of the best art book sellers from around the world and you can find some pretty amazing stuff. Open October 24-26.
The first person I saw when I entered was my buddy Brendan Fowler who I forced to pose in front of boxes of ANP Quarterly mags that were free at the entrance.
![]()
The main reason I wanted to stop by the fair was to visit the booth of Gallery 360 from Tokyo. It's owned by Mr. Nemoto and Ms. Sugaya, and I visit their gallery/editions & book shop every time I go to Japan.

"New Looks"
This weekend in The New York Times Magazine, Rob Walker wrote an article about my work and the path it has taken. I like a lot of the things Rob writes about on his blog and in his weekly 'Consumed' column, so I was stoked when he mentioned he wanted to write something about what I was up to.
You can read the article here.

i-D Magazine / KAWS collaboration issue
Today I received advance copies of the July issue of i-D Magazine. This was
one of the largest magazine projects I have worked on to date. It was a lot
of work but I would gladly do it over again (and again, and again.)
The support I received from friends who took time out of their busy
schedules to contribute was awesome, so thank you. Another
great part about this project was that I interviewed Nigo - my first time as
interviewer. I got to be really open and ask him a bunch of things I wanted
to know about in the past, but was too polite to ask. To top it all off, the
printing job on the issue was amazing. The cover and inside spreads look
super bright and clean. A special thanks to Terry and Tricia Jones, and
again to everyone at i-D and to those who contributed...
Business As Usual
Edison Chen stopped by the studio yesterday to get lunch and catch up.
![]()
He's been working on a lot of new projects lately and brought some new samples for me to check out. These "Visvim Clot Royale Christo" will be released exclusively at Juice HK later this month.
![]()
My friend Max also slipped this photo and drawing under my door. I'm stoked Max rides my board in the neighborhood. You can check out his art in the OriginalFake issue of Arkitip I organized last year.

I went to see the Tadanori Yokoo Be Adventurous! exhibition at Setagaya Art Museum with Katayama from Wonderwall.
It was a really amazing show including many original drawings from the '60's and '70's. There's also an excellent catalogue that was published for the exhibition. Ends 6/15/08, so try to see it, it's definitely worth the trip!

We also went to Takashi Murakami's "Geisai Museum #2"
Katayama, Murakami, me, Oka (Medicom Toy)

The show was packed with a lot of young talent. I was happy to meet this artist and picked up two Rolex watches.

KAWS HASHEEM
This is a new figure I made with the Japanese artist Santa Inoue. I liked Hasheem long before I met Santa, but after meeting him in Tokyo through our mutual friend Oka, I got to see his studio and ended up really getting along with him. I'm glad we were able to collaborate on this together.
Hasheeme will release at Santastic and OriginalFake this Saturday in Tokyo, and at kawsone.com tomorrow (12/21) at noon.
Mascots & Mugs: The Characters and Cartoons of Subway Graffiti
This past Monday night I went to the release party for a new book "Mascots & Mugs" by
